About a photograph

I was given a photograph of a building and a person walking in front, I had to list the denotations, connotations and finally have an idea of the photograph's story.

Denotations:
Soldier
Building
Rubble
Gun
Generator
Wires
Windows
Clothes
Helmet
Soldiers uniform

Connotations:
Disaster
War
Earthquake
Bomb
Terrorist
Rescue
Afghanistan
Mexico
Iraq
Italy

My Story:
My own thoughts on the story was that it was set in Iraq and an iraqi soldier was looking to rescue someone from a bombed building.

Actual Story:
The photograph was set in Italy after the recent earthquake they had. As soon as I recieved the photo, I thought of recent events and Italy came into my mind, but I dismissed it straight away.

Introduction Notes- a description on what was done

Our first lesson on photo journalism included a show which was broadcasted on BBC Four called "Genius Of Photography" and watched fifteen minutes of it which introduced photography. Where we learnt about photgraphers Henry Talbot who knew the processes of the mirror. After watching the programme, we learnt about camera shake and how the camera takes pictures from light. Also pictures on over exposing and under exposing.
